19/1/2012 Setting Goals

empowernetwork.com

Setting goals are extremely important. Not just in the training field but in everything you do.
This is one of the main reasons that individuals lose motivation and consistency and eventually give up. Its the new year and majority of people will have a new years resolution to lose weight and get into better shape, but most will give up within a few months. The root of this problem is goals. How can you stay motivated, dedicated, consistent and work hard if you do not even know what you are working towards?? "How can you hit a target you do not have?" - Zig Ziglar.
I am here to help give you a few guidelines on how you can set yourself goals and help yourself achieve and accomplish in the training world and everyday life.

Improve your Self-Image: Many people don't want to set goals because they subconsciously don't think they deserve to have whatever it is they want.
Do not allow others to break you down and tell you that you cannot achieve anything, set a clear goal and WORK towards it. You wont get that body you want by hoping and wishing you had it, know exactly what you want and work towards it.

Focus: Dont get side-tracked and ditracted on what you are working for. Stop making excuses as to why you cannot work towards what you want. Be absolutly specific with setting your goals; what you want, how you are going to get it, and what the time period is. Set a positive attitude that no one will bring down, not even yourself.

Long term/Short term: You need to set different types of goals. Long term goals are what you would like to achieve over a long period of time (a year, 2 years or even 10 years) and short term goals are intervals leading up to your overall goal (1 week, a month) for example you want to lose 30kg of weight over the next year(long term) but you want to try lose 1kg every week(short term).

Be realistic: This is one of the biggest factors why most people lose motivation and discard their goals. You need to be realistic in the goals you are setting yourself, if you weigh 60kg and want to be Arnold Schwarzenegger size after a year I am sorry to inform you, but it is IMPOSSIBLE you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. That is where the long and short term goals come in, set short term goals that you can realistically achieve which will help boost your motivation and positivity and then work hard towards achieving your overall goal.

I hope this has helped those of you that want to achieve whatever it is they want. Now go set yourself some goals!

2/1/2012 New year - A new and BETTER you!

This will be quite a long post, so bear with me. So its been a great holiday, Christmas and New Year and I have binged a lot. Thankfully it is the New Year and no matter what shape or condition you are in you can kick those bad habits, whether it is eating fast food, eating sugar or consuming alcohol.

My goals for 2012 are:

1) To weigh 95kg/210lbs at 8% body fat.
2) To become as strong as possible, especially my legs.
3) To get my blog up and running properly and to create a network of people that want to become fitter and healthier and help motivate each other.

So set yourself some new goals that you would want to achieve for 2012 and get started. Here are a few tips I can give to you to help you on your journey.

1) Commitment - choose a training and diet program and stick to it (if you need one comment or e-mail and I will be happy to send one that's custom to the goals that you want)

2) Dedication - If you want to be the best, you have to put the best into everything you do, whether it is your diet, training or any other parts of your life.

3) Motivation - you NEED to stay motivated. You can't do the best you are if your not "feeling it", so find what motivates you (posters, listening to music, training partner) just don't give up, and if you need motivation feel free to ask, I am here to help.

I hope that you are prepared to change your ways and start this year fresh and ready.
